2020-03-15 Fr. Roman's letter
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. Mary Parish,
Just a few short notes this weekend, March 15, 2020:
First, I would like to thank Fr. Steve Avella for filling in this weekend. I will be at a book study getting ready for the Easter Season.
Second, if you have yet to do the Disciple Maker Index, please do so quickly. The Index will be taken offline on March 23rd. If you need a hard copy, they are available in the Church from the ushers or in the Parish Office.
Third, as we enter the final three weeks of Lent, we will proclaim three powerful readings from the Gospel: The Woman at the Well, The Man Born Blind, and The Raising of Lazarus. All three speak of how an encounter with Christ changes lives and brings New Life.
Finally, we continue to take the necessary precautions in regards to the Coronavirus here at our parish. What I am asking all of us to remember is our fundamental identity as Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Remember the Words of St. Paul as we began our Lenten Journey, “We are ambassadors for Christ as if God was appealing through us. Together, let us not waste the Grace of God.” We share a common Heritage of Faith, Hope and, Love and We share in the Life Changing Salvation that comes through Jesus Christ. We are a family here at St. Mary’s put and brought together by God. The operative word that God has called us to use is “We.”
As we continue to weather the Coronavirus Outbreak, I ask that we continue to bow to each other at the Sign of Peace and carefully receive Holy Communion. For the sake of the community, those who have a personal piety of receiving on the tongue refrain from doing so during this time. Also, the gifts brought forward at offertory will only contain the bread and wine that is consumed by the Priest and Deacon.
If you are ill or have flu-like symptoms, are susceptible to infection, or your health is compromised, please make the good decision of staying home and watching Mass on television. This is not a sin and in the present circumstances, fulfills your obligation.
Everyone, we will walk through this together as we do through the Season of Lent. Easter is on the Horizon. Thanks everyone for supporting St. Mary’s.
Peace and Blessings,
