CUSH
Congregations United to Serve Humanity

WHAT IS CUSH?

Congregations United to Serve Humanity (CUSH) is a multi-ethnic, multi-racial coalition of faith communities joined together to educate, advocate and empower people, particularly low and moderate income people. This coalition wishes to promote social justice and address community concerns. St. Mary Catholic Church is a part of this coalition.

  Especially, CUSH dedicates itself to:
  • Promote equal access to resources, relief from poverty and promote the general health and well-being of our area through dialogue, education and action.

  • Stimulate new and different efforts to improve our community through dialogue with public and private entities and officials.

  • Create community within and among our faith communities.

  • Promote and be guided by common values in a context that celebrates and respects our diversity and our varied spiritual traditions.

  • Embrace democratic values, processes and procedures.

CUSH currently focuses on two issues:

The goal of the CUSH Task Force on Homelessness and Affordable Housing is to see that the needs of the homeless and low-income population in Kenosha are met.

The goal of the CUSH Task Force on Mental Health is to improve the services to the mentally ill in Kenosha including National Association of the Mentally Ill, Families First, Women and Children's Horizons/Pathways of Courage, Wisconsin Family Ties, and Kenosha Unified TeenScreen.
