St. Mary School Committee
The purpose of the St. Mary School Committee is to promote a superior religious, academic, cultural, social, and physical education for our children. The committee meets regularly to review the diocese's school policies, practices, programs, and priorities. In conjunction with the pastor and principal, it implements any changes that may be needed. The committee is not intended as an alternative to or a substitute for school administration or normal communication channels. While committee members are always willing to listen to parental concerns and comments, specific concerns about a particular school student/teacher situations should be addressed with the teacher involved, or with the principal.
The School Committee, which is now a committee of Parish Council, as of the revision date of the by-laws, strives to conduct its business in a matter which best serves the needs of the school and the families of the school, it seeks to operate in a professional, effective, deliberate, and fair manner.
Parent members will be selected either by discernment or through an election process involving the parents of St. Mary students. Two teachers volunteer to be members of this committee. One teacher member should be from grades K-4 and one from grades 5-8. These positions are volunteer positions. There will be a teacher vote if more than two teachers are interested in serving.
Meetings are held August through June, on the second Monday of each of these months. Notices of each meeting appear in the school calendars and newsletters and the parish bulletin. Any member of St. Anne, St. Mary or anyone with a child at St. Mary School may attend these meetings. All parents are encouraged to take an active role in the process by attending meetings and serving on committees.
